SEO in 2020, as well as the Future
Every time I end up having a beautiful moment in my life, something that really clicks into my memory. Tightly snaps like a couple of found legos that I thought were missing from the set. Every time I remember the scenery of a memory I had. Every time I think of a close intimate moment of my life… I had a connection.
This connection is something that human nature is tied to. Something that happens so infrequently that it nearly sounds like a chalk board in the distance being scratched with fingernails. It’s something that loneliness is yearning for…
It is the human connection to speech.
In modern times speech seems to be a distant cousin that you never talk to. The energy required to invest in someones up-close personality is becoming an experience that some may call a relic of the past, as typing commands into a keyboard or screen demands way less. Fixing typos, Freudian slips or actual trueness is something that has been ingrained into the soul so much that it’s turned into habit, or further more more… human nature (Cerrone soundtrack kicks in here). Typing is easy, but if we desire the true human connection, then language is the link, and separation that can divide or connect us to our computers.
Anyways, after all that, the conclusion is that speech recognition is what we want. Voice search delivers it to us (the soundtrack I set still hopefully rollin’).
Well, let’s first get an idea of what the exact definition of what a voice search is. When I’m in need of a Google search, I would say around 25% of the time I just click the Siri icon on my Mac Book Pro’s taskbar, and verbally ask the question I need to search for. While using my phone its about 50% of the time. In the past I would alter my tone of voice and pull words from my normal speech patterns, so that it would tend to sound like I was speaking to a robot. ‘What time Moma Close Sunday?’ instead of, ‘When does Moma close on Sundays?’. Of course that was when the voice recognition was not half as good as it is now. Now speaking any natural style will easily be understood by Siri… most of the time.
All recent phones are preinstalled with voice recognition from a growing selection of Apps. Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana, Google’s Voice Control, etc. These voice recognition interfaces are being built into all types of devices: speakers, watches, laptops, televisions, and even cars. The list and the actions they help a person perform are actually a little ridiculous. Being installed on a light switch always seemed to be quite a bit unnecessary. C’mon, how much energy does it take to stand up and just flick a switch? Perhaps it’s the desire to live in Blade Runner that has been tugging at everyone’s soul since the 80’s. But realistically, everyone is loving voice search for just about everything. So it’s best to get on board and take advantage of it’s SEO possibilities.
Anyhow, with all the accuracy of applications and the vast array of devices equipped with these voice recognition assistants, comes a time when long-tail question keywords (key words with 3 or more words, uhm that are questions) will be the most searched for topics in Google. Therefore we will no longer need to use the ‘robot like’ talking that we used to use for a voice search in 2014. It will quickly change from keywords like ‘voice search’ to ‘What is Voice Search’, and ‘How does Voice Search Affect SEO’… Oops, did I just give away my secret keyword for getting this post some kick-ass rankings? Seriously though…
How To Use Trigger Words
Which leads to trigger words… Now thats a good name. I’ve never owned a gun, or even wanted one, but have always loved that word. Anyways, one of the most important ways to hook people into content on a page is through properly written headings with strong ‘trigger words’ as hooks. A word such as new, free, more etc.
They are usually very popular among the marketers that used to work in print and now work in SEO copywriting. They are best used in very short headline sentences, such as , “The top 5 free SEO tools.” Or perhaps something a little more hook inducing, to get some attention: “The top 5 Free SEO Tools And Why You Should Avoid Them.”
It’s important to keep the headings short and to the point, and use a tool like Neil Patel’s UberSuggest to research and compare keywords with your competitors in your market. Neil has a few suggestions for writing compelling headline, which he entitles the 4 U’s:
This headline suggestion is very clear, easy to implement, and efficient. As are all of Neil Patel’s suggestions. Neil Patel generally has a ton of great suggestions that are free to the public. His Ubersuggest tool is one of the greatest free keyword tools available and the paid version is so cheap it’s practically still free, compared to the competition. I pay for it, and haven’t a single regret. Check it out, if you’re not already familiar.

Data-Mining Casual Conversations
Everyday speech will be monitored and collected to sort out and segment the kinds of media that will display in adverts and Google searches. This will increase Google’s marketing capabilities ten-fold, as well as anyone who knows how to take advantage of the possibilities of Voice Search that Google is programming. This is not only from the perspective of looking at Google’s Voice Assistant algorithm, but also all the Siri searches also.
Regardless of mobile device, voice searches almost always feed directly to a Google Search when making a search inquiry. Therefore almost all of the voice searching on all mobile devices sans Huawei, get processed by a Google Search. They by far have the largest collection of data on every person alive. More than governments have. Imagine the possibilities for marketing when using this database.
This is an enormous amount of data being collected to make sure the users are being routed to the the information they need, as quickly as possible. The information that Google has on each persons personal interests, habits, dislikes, likes, medical conditions, location, where they want to go, where they’ve gone, and the list goes on. Honestly, Google know more about me than my own mother does. Seriously…
Google Voice Search Semantics
With these huge amounts of data. as well as its adaptive human speech ‘semantics’, they have a mean understanding machine in their arsenal. An example of semantics would be this series of questions asked to Google Voice:
- Query “Google, where is Ghost in the Shell Playing?”
- Google “It’s playing at Regal Union Square Cinema”
Then the next question in series:
- Query “How long is it?”
- Google “Ghost in the Shell is 2 hours long”
…Hmm, how did it understand what ‘it’ was? Just as a human understands dialog in series, so does a voice semantics algorithm. It’s semantic voice speech and recognition programming. How will it help? By understanding and communicating as a human would. With the nuances of an actual human being. Google have the lead in this technology, and It’s getting much better day by day. In just a few years, the semantics algorithms will work so well and know you so well, that people will most likely make become good friends with their voice search partners.
These semantics and their ease of use will undoubtedly lead to an exponential amount of data-mining. These data-bases will then be used as the greatest marketing tool, to target in on and pinpoint all worthy buyers in the marketplace.
How To Integrate Voice Search In A Website

What Are Long-tail Keywords?
Its pretty much standard knowledge that no one starting a new blog is currently going to rank at any single word keywords. There is just way too much competition out there. Those words are owned by website with high domain authority, who have already spent years building trust for their brand and website… which by the way, is a rough definition of what the term “high domain score” means.
So the work-around for this problem is to take a short key word that’s very popular like, “voice search“. By taking that word and using natural human voice search semantics, and using it as the long-tailed keyword, “what is voice search“.
Not only are long tailed keywords less competitive and easier to rank for, but they are more specific. Meaning that if someone searches for the exact string of words you have selected, you will more than likely be closer to the top of the Google search, and you’ll have the direct answer for their query on your webpage. It’s a win win situation for the user and for the site, as it gets the click-through from the SERP. This is a genera, well planned strategy to writing a voice search focused keyword into a web page.
How Does Schema Metadata Help With SEO?
Schema metadata markup is a type of code that is put into the header of your webpage to quickly show information about your page in a Google search (SERP). If the page is well written, and the schema is correctly coded, this could shoot you directly to the top rank in the SERP, to quickly answer a users question as quickly as possible. This will show up on a site in different ways, depending on the type of information you are trying to display on a site. Take a look at the two screen shots (click to enlarge them) to get an idea of the various ways that websites use and display this Schema Metadata.
Using valuable code in your site can display many different things, such as recipes in the SERPS, How to do lists, contact information, movie listings, book reviews, restaurants, software applications, products, events, and all other sorts of things.
There are tools that Google makes itself to easily get this code into your site. Just follow the simple Googles style steps on this Structured Data Markup Generator to get the easiest way to get the code to paste into the head of your web page.
There is also a few plugins that I recommend if your a WordPress user. To cover SEO and very basic page Schema markup, I word recommend SEOpress plugin, which is a way affordable SEO plugin, as well as a much better alternative to Yoast, which is more of a money scam than a help. But thats all personal opinion of course, though tested and self proven.
For a more advanced plugin, which I install on all my personal sites, I use the Schema Pro plugin. Its slightly more advanced. You can setup your schema markup for each page individually, or all your posts or pages. Of course theres a ton of other options that will help you all the way through. This plugin also has great reviews on WordPress.org and around the web.
Make Google Buisness Listing Up To Date
If you have a business where you deal with customers face face face, and care how it looks in the SERPS, then a Google Buisness listing is a must. It should be done asap if it’s not yet been done. Its really easy to do through the gmail account you want to associate with the business. Just log in. then goto this Google My Buisness link here, and follow the simple on screen directions. The only thing that may be difficult is the verification process, but there are quite a few ways to verify, so hopefully there will be no problems. This step is good, so nobody else uses your business under their email, so it setup to be controlled only by the owner of the business. Very good.
Once the verification has been completed, your profile needs to be setup. Make sure you have an accurate description, profile photo that looks inviting and all the info is correct. You can do all of this very easily with the iOS Google Buisness app and Android Google Buisness app. Easy as that. Be sure to frequently check to see if everything is accurate, as users of Google can make alterations if you have left an inaccurate listing. So keep a close eye on it.
Now your website will display in meta data with the store hours, location and everything appropriate for a beautiful looking Google SERPS page. Appropriately setup to get your business to shown properly for location voice searches.
